BIS Club

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is the national standards body of India, established under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986. It operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. BIS is responsible for the development, promotion, and certification of national standards across various sectors to ensure quality, safety, and reliability of products, processes, and services.

BIS formulates and promotes standards across diverse sectors such as industry, agriculture, consumer goods, and services. These standards are aimed at improving the quality of products, enhancing consumer safety, and facilitating trade both domestically and internationally.

BIS offers product certification services through its various certification schemes such as the ISI (Indian Standards Institute) certification mark, which signifies adherence to Indian quality standards. This certification enhances consumer confidence and helps manufacturers demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements.

Overall, BIS plays a pivotal role in fostering quality, safety, and reliability across various sectors of the Indian economy, contributing to the nations economic growth and development.

BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) club has started functioning from May 2022 to create awareness on Indian Standards and Standardization in International fora, basic Engineering concepts, Code of practices and related subjects.

Students with 150 members from all the departments headed by 1 Leader and 4 Sub Leaders. The Coordinator of the club is Mr. V.Deepak lecturer in Department of Civil Engineering.
